Iraqi resistance faction pledges to “smash” US initiatives in the area. An Iraqi resistance faction has declared its intention to obliterate American initiatives with harmful consequences in the region.
Kata’ib Hezbollah, a component of Iraq’s umbrella counterterrorism force known as Hashd al-Sha’abi or the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), conveyed this message in an official statement released on Wednesday.
While the US withdrew its troops from Iraq between 2007 and 2011, they returned in 2014 along with allied forces, purportedly to counter the threat posed by the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.
Iraq ultimately managed to eliminate the territorial control of the extremist organization within its borders, a victory attributed to the sacrifices of its national armed forces and the PMU.
Nevertheless, Washington has maintained around 2,500 military personnel within Iraq in defiance of a resolution passed by the country’s parliament in January 2020, demanding their departure. This resolution was adopted following the US-led assassination of Iran’s revered anti-terror commander, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, and his Iraqi associate Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy leader of PMU.
Kata’ib Hezbollah’s statement pointed out that the recent movements of American military convoys in various Iraqi cities serve as a “clear demonstration of the adversary’s stubbornness and its intent to uphold its invasive combat forces within the nation.”
The faction emphasized that the remaining US forces are not numerically or technologically superior to those present in Iraq before 2011. Conversely, the resistance has enhanced and expanded its capabilities compared to that time.
The statement affirmed,
“The US should recognize that their displays of power are ineffective, and if the resistance opts to engage, it will dismantle their malevolent schemes in the region, making Iraq their final bastion in a multipolar world.”
This declaration follows a statement from Asaib Ahl al-Haq, another Iraqi resistance group, made a day earlier, asserting that the eventual withdrawal of US forces from Iraq is unavoidable, as the nation is capable of safeguarding itself.
The group also alleged that the primary objective of the American military presence in Iraq is to safeguard the security of the Israeli regime.
The US mercilessly attacked Iraq in 2003 in the guise of Iraqi possessing weapons of mass destruction which later found out not true. Now with the presence of the Iraqi resistance faction what the US had sown two decades ago soon they shall reap the consequences this time.
