Keep Your Aid! – Philippines to Obama

The tremendous transformation to optimism and moral strength taking place within the Philippines, under the leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte, is captured in the following brief report, reprinted from the EIR Daily Alert Service. The hysterical diatribe against Duterte coming from Obama and his ilk over Duterte’s War on Drugs is not surprising, given that Obama is pushing drug legalization across the country and around the world, contributing to the worst drug epidemic in American history and tearing every community in the country apart.

Some of the Cabinet officials referenced here have been technocrats in the past, serving Philippine governments subservient to the Washington and London bankers, but have gained courage and moral fortitude from Duterte’s leadership. Duterte has dedicated himself to ending the hunger, poverty, and drug addiction of his country, and to totally rejecting Obama’s effort to use his country as a battle station for a war on China.

Oct. 7—“Go to Hell with your aid!” Was this Philippine President Duterte again telling the U.S. that the people of the Philippines were no longer America’s Little Brown Brothers? Close—but in fact it is a quote from President Sukarno of Indonesia in 1964, after the assassination of JFK (who had supported Sukarno) and the launching of a “regime change” operation against him from London and Washington, as part of America’s tragic turn to British imperialism and colonial wars.

But Duterte said essentially the same thing yesterday: “Go away, bring your money to somewhere else. We will survive as a nation.” Speaking to police officers in the southern city of Butuan, Duterte said, “How do you look at us, [as] mendicants? We will survive. Even if we’ll go through hardships, we will survive. But we will never, never compromise our dignity. If you think it is high time for you guys to withdraw your assistance, go ahead, we will not beg for it.”

An End to Subservience Declared

And not only the President is standing up to Obama:

• Foreign Secretary Perfecto Yasay posted on his website a statement titled, “America has failed us.” It reads, in part: “Breaking away from the shackling dependency of the Philippines to effectively address both internal and external security threats has become imperative in putting an end to our nation’s subservience to United States interests.” He said that, despite being granted independence in 1946, “the former colonial masters held onto invisible chains that reined us in toward dependency and submission as little brown brothers not capable of true independence and freedom.” He said that the “carrot and stick” policy had been “effectively used all through the long years since our independence to force Filipinos into submission to American demands and interests. This is what [President Duterte] is now trying to liberate us from.”

• General (ret.) Delfin Lorenzana, the Defense Secretary, speaking to the foreign press today, was asked about Duterte’s charge that the CIA was out to assassinate him. He said that he had asked U.S. Ambassador Philip Goldberg about it, who said, “We don’t do that.” It is not known whether Lorenzana reminded the Ambassador of Obama’s weekly drone kill list. Lorenzana did note, however, that President Duterte “keeps saying to us in private, ‘I don’t think I can solve this problem during my time,’ ” asking them to continue the mission if he were to be assassinated. Lorenzana said Duterte was “not fatalistic,” but was aware that “a person’s life is very fleeting.”

Lorenzana said his country had faced similar attacks from the U.S. during the time of Marcos, concluding: “Personally, I welcome this development. It’s time maybe to reassess our relationship. Maybe we should reassess what we should be getting from the alliance . . . It’s part of maybe growing up. We should not be too dependent on one country,” adding that he was looking to China and Russia for possible arms purchases and other help.

• In Washington, D.C., the Philippine Secretaries of Finance, Budget, and Socioeconomic Planning spoke at the Philippine Embassy Wednesday, and all three were extremely optimistic about Duterte’s commitment to reversing the economic disaster left over from the past administrations, openly admitting that the poverty rate in the country is the worst in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), that the wealth gap is horrendous, that the “oligarchy” living in Manila had ignored any development outside of the capital (although the infrastructure in Manila is also disastrous), and that agricultural output and farmer income is literally declining from an already low base.

Threats Rejected

When an American “wealth management” financier rose to warn them that “Duterte’s statements and behavior” were causing her clients to pull out of the Philippines and that they had better stop him, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez responded that he had been meeting with Canadians, Japanese, and others who were very anxious to invest in the country, and that the government would be meeting with China this month to discuss infrastructure investments. “If some of you in the U.S. are having second thoughts about investing,” he said, “it is too bad for you to miss out, but we have plenty of investors.”

This is a powerful model for the world’s developing nations of the necessary fight against Obama’s imperial warmongering and economic looting. Projected U.S. aid to the Philippines for 2017 is a paltry $188 million and perhaps a few worn out Coast Guard vessels. The United States long ago stopped building any infrastructure in the Philippines, or anywhere else for that matter.

In deep contrast to the noisy US interference, and EU threats of ICC “crimes against humanity” investigation and trial, Chinese and local billionaires are silently helping the Duterte government establish mega-drug rehabilitation centers across the archipelago, purposely to accommodate an estimated 4 million drug pusher-addicts.

In support of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s crackdown on drugs, many donors have come forward, including Chinese people.
“My company is constructing the first of two new large drug rehabilitation facilities in the country,” Huang Rulun, Chinese philanthropist and chairman of Beijing-based Century Golden Resources Investment Group Co, told the Global Times in an interview on Saturday.
“On July 27, President Duterte told me that the Philippines is now vigorously pursuing drug rehabilitation, and it is in urgent need of providing a large number of rehabilitation centers for drug addicts. Since the previous government did not include this in the national budget for this year, he hoped to get my support,” noted Huang.
“I agreed to help construct 100,000 square meters of drug rehabilitation facilities that can treat up to 20,000 people,” he said.
“Our company is currently working north of Manila to construct the first of two new large drug rehabilitation facilities. This one can accommodate about 10,000 people,” Huang noted.
“We intend to export more than 200 containers filled with construction materials from China,” he said, adding that about 90 containers have been sent to the Philippines so far.
The Philippines on Wednesday announced plans to open the new facility in November, Reuters reported.
Construction of the second facility is scheduled to begin in early 2017 after Spring Festival, according to Huang.
Duterte launched a war on drugs when he took office on June 30. CNN reported in September that Duterte wants six more months to “put everything in order” regarding his country’s drug problems.
There are currently only 40 drug rehabilitation agencies in the Philippines, domestic news site jiemian.com reported in September.
The Philippine government plans to build four more mega treatment and rehabilitation facilities elsewhere in the country and many donors, including Chinese people, have come forward, Reuters reported Wednesday.
“Drugs have been a public disaster. They harm people’s health and also disrupt social order. So all countries, whether socialist or capitalist, are against drugs,” Huang said. “President Duterte once told me that Sino-Philippine relations must be well maintained and must be peaceful. I said I would help construct the drug rehabilitation facilities and also schools in the Philippines in the hope that both countries can become friendly neighbors.”
Q&A with Huang Rulun
Huang Rulun

GT: In the 1980s, you went to the Philippines to develop business there. What do you think of the business environment of the country, and what changes have there been in recent years?

Huang: The Philippines thrived in the 1960s. It is a country with more than 7,000 islands and is rich in mineral and petroleum resources, as well as seafood and agriculture products. However, corruption gradually took root in the country and successive governments failed to make proper use of these resources, so the country fell into poverty.

The country’s current living standards are as good as in Thailand and Vietnam. Of course, Chinese people in the country have played a vital role in helping promote its economic growth.

GT: What are you doing to promote the economic and trade relations between China and the Philippines?

Huang: Our company plans to build an international traveling island that covers an area of 3,333 hectares in the Philippines, with the aim of attracting tourists from China and all over the world and to promote the development of local tourism. The Philippines has a wealth of tourism resources such as lovely beaches, good harbors and fresh air.

In addition, we are scheduled to buy 2,000 hectares of land in the Philippines to build an industrial park, and we will bring in some Chinese steel mills, power plants and cement factories, which are all in short supply in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, in a bid to respond to the call of President Xi Jinping‘s “One Belt and One Road” initiative to go global, we will actively promote Chinese advanced technology in the Philippines to fill the country’s technology gap and boost its economic development.

GT: President Duterte will pay a visit to China on Tuesday. What are your expectations for the economic and trade relationship between two countries?

Huang: The Philippines is located in a strategic position in China’s “One Belt and One Road” initiative, and also in a core area in the Pacific Ocean. The economic and trade cooperation between China and the Philippines is facing great historic opportunities. If China could firmly seize the friendship of the Philippines and the Philippines could also treat us as friendly neighbors, Chinese entrepreneurs could beef up cooperation with the Philippines via the “Belt and Road” initiative.

Duterte is now in Brunei for a state visit. On Tuesday, he will be in China for a 4-day state visit together with an entourage of 500 Chinese-Filipino businessmen, the first state visit outside of the ASEAN, another first for a Philippine president to have departed from a century old tradition of prioritizing Washington DC first, above all else. After the China visit, Duterte is scheduled to fly to Japan, too.
These are proofs that here in Asia, there’s no one committing crimes against humanity. But the Western globalist institutions, e.g. UN, EU, ICC, want to divert the world’s attention away from the genocide that’s been happening in Yemen, Syria, and in Gaza.
Bear in mind, there’s no single Syrian, or Yemeni refugee camp built by any of the exceptionalists, claiming to uphold human rights everywhere. Instead, both the UK and US are still supplying these terrorist cuddling warlords with illegal cluster bombs and biochemical warfare. In fact, a few days ago, the US has begun redeploying its Daesh ISIS terror assets back to Syria from Mosul, and is poised to claim that they have liberated Mosul from the same terrorists.
In short, the West has not earned the right yet to lecture the other side of the globe about some values that they could not practice in countries they have forced themselves into, and even within their own home turf.

  1. Good to see that they have a President is not a US President Butt kisser, who is repairing relations with Russia, Who will looks like he will be wise enough to join the BRICS alliance.
Let’s hope he also cleans up a mess left by the USA – Sex tourism closing down the sex bars and hotels in places like Angeles City they should go through that place like Epson salts and clean the shit out including the Mayor. Protect all those young women that are being turned into whores and sex slaves due to their family’s hardship. The Philippines is a beautiful country with wonderful family orientated people so they should be aiming for a better class of Tourist -‘Families’ concentrate on attracting families with family package deals and lots of Family accommodation a good start to increasing the Countries income, Employment, builds pride in of their country and cuts crime.
